Trapiche Diamond Tablet Drops
We love stones that defy convention. Trapiche diamonds are extraordinary geological curiosities, their distinctive, radiating patterns formed during the growth of the crystal itself. These particularly handsome specimens have a moody, greenish-brown complexion, with atmospheric triangular forms suspended within each diamond.
We chose deep, greenish-blue Australian sapphires for the shadows, crisp step-cut white diamonds for the highlights. This unlikely marriage of color, light, and geometry sent us straight to the Renaissance, to Lorenzo Lotto's Portrait of a Woman Inspired by Lucretia, painted around 1530. An extravagance of green velvet, tawny silk, and gold, the portrait is a curious affair, with its improbable color harmonies, enigmatic symbolism, and marvelous disregard for restraint.
