Lamassu Ring
A ring that carries a rare fragment of ancient history into present times with the deliberate work of our small team. The carved brown agate dates to the first to third centuries CE and depicts a Lamassu, the guardian figure that once stood watch over Mesopotamian palaces and homes. Traditionally shown with the body of a bull or lion, the wings of a bird and the face of a human, the lamassu embodied strength, protection and intelligence in equal measure. Even in small-scale carvings like this one, the lamassu conveys a sense of vigilance and composure.
Working with a piece like this demands a balance of fun and respect. The engraving is crisp despite its age and retains the presence intended by the ancient artisan who shaped it. Our role was to create a structure that acknowledges that heritage while also allowing the Lamassu to feel fully at home.
Wearing this ring is an invitation to consider the long arc of existence. This Lamassu may once have been carried as a personal seal or protective charm. It may have accompanied travels, transitions or moments of significance for its former owner. Now it enters a new chapter, one shaped by a wearer who appreciates objects that hold both artistry and history.
