Sapphire Bloom Bracelet

The greenhouse was at its finest. New leaves unfurled from every corner. Terracotta pots lined the benches. Several orchids had begun to flower at once, their blooms suspended above the foliage like small lanterns. She moved intentionally, watering can in hand, pausing now and then to inspect a new bud or emerging shoot.

Her bracelet, always a part of her wrist, moved lightly against her skin as she worked. Pink and violet sapphires punctuated the handmade chain, catching the filtered light beneath the glass roof. She paused beside a Phalaenopsis she had tended for years. A division from that same plant now lived in her daughter's home. Another bloomed on her granddaughter's windowsill.
