Curio Necklace
The conservatory cabinet had not been thoroughly inventoried in years. Shelves lined with carefully curated Lepidoptera, antique cigar boxes filled with old photographs, and treasured objects collected during decades of travel were splayed before her. The scent of damp soil lingered from the morning's watering. A citrus tree brushed the glass overhead.
She lifted each object from the cabinet in turn. Sarah would love the sphinx moth. Emma should have the silver box. The travel journals belonged with Michael. Her fingers moved to the strand of Sleeping Beauty turquoise at her neck. For a moment she held the beads between her thumb and forefinger - another name came to mind. She smiled and closed the cabinet doors.
