Hare Amulet 1250BC
Each morning began with a ritual. At her dressing table, nestled beside a first edition Truman Capote and grandmother's Hermès scarf, rested the little carnelian hare. Carved in Egypt in 1250 BC, the talisman spoke of an ancient time whilst sitting neatly in her palm. Empires, families, generations. The curve of its haunches, the ears folded neatly against its back - it was easy to set her intention for the day.
This particular morning, she chose to wear it. The small hare accompanying the fine pieces worn most often - a gold medallion, a ring with a minty beryl - joining the familiar rhythm of her day. For more than three thousand years it had survived. For the present, its care was hers.
