20mm Ancient Coin with Equestrian & Roma

$4,870.00

This Roman Republican silver denarius offers a glimpse into the pride and artistry of the late Republic. On the obverse, the laureate and diademed head of Roma looks to the right, a personification of the city itself, embodying both divine strength and the enduring presence of the capital. The inscription ROMA anchors the design, while the small star behind her speaks to celestial favor. The reverse is more elaborate: an equestrian statue poised upon a triumphal arch, with the inscription of patron M. N. Aemilius marking its origin. The monument, rendered in miniature, echoes the grandeur of Roman triumphs, where architecture, sculpture, and ceremony intertwined to celebrate success and glory.

Nearly two millennia later, the details remain astonishingly clear. This coin would have circulated among citizens who walked beneath such arches and felt the swell of Rome’s rising power. Each mark upon its surface is a reminder of that lived reality - of hands that exchanged it in participation of a shared identity. Now as a pendant, it transcends its ancient function, becoming a fragment of memory and monument.
