The Custom Process

Our Custom Process:

  • A single custom project generally takes a couple of weeks to develop a concept, then around 6 weeks to finish. Around 8 weeks total.
  • Demand for our work is high.  Our team is highly skilled, professional and intentionally small. We cannot accept rush projects.
  • If your project involves 3 or more pieces, expect 8-12 weeks.
  • We encourage you to make an appointment so that we may be as professional,  prepared and efficient with your time as possible.
  • A deposit of $500 is required before we will begin any drafting.
  • This deposit is applied toward total project cost and is nonrefundable after we present you with your design.
  • After your deposit, we will provide you with drawings/renderings of your custom design and an approximate cost.
  • Simple custom design starts at $2000
  • Price is determined by metal type and weight, number of stones, stone size and quality, types of setting, and labor required: casting, pre-finishing, torch soldering, laser soldering, milgraining and engraving, just to name a few.
  • Price is reflective of many factors including, but not limited to: the significant amount of time and expertise involved in developing a proper, premium quality, original design. Our workshop & showroom is fully insured and equipped with professional tools, machinery, and state of the art technology.   We employ highly skilled, wonderful people who are paid a fair & living Colorado wage and benefits, and we have longstanding relationships with site-holders, ethical suppliers & devoted vendors who are all paid fairly.  We create bespoke, heirloom quality jewelry.  We do not cut corners.  We do not create for the masses.
  • Our designs are flexible and we are open minded to changes you may want so long as they are structurally sound and communicated during the approval stages.
  • Depending on the changes you request, there may be a change to the price of your piece.
  • Once you approve the drawings, we will carve a scale size wax model for your approval, at which point half down is required to proceed.
  • Final payment is due upon completion. We accept cash, credit card or check. We do not offer financing or payment plans.
  • Custom jewelry is non refundable.

Please read some of our requirements before committing to custom work:

We are open minded and have worked in many different styles of jewelry, but we need to have a general idea of your taste before we lay out a design.  This means you should come to us with a point of view about what you would like to have made. This can include an idea, a picture, sketch, or other jewelry that will serve as a jumping off point for your custom design.  We may advise you against making custom jewelry based on your expectations.

  • We will not copy another designer's work and will not design something we deem structurally unsound.
  • After we discuss what sort of custom jewelry you want made, we will give you a rough estimate of price.
  • Basic custom design starts at $2000. There are no refunds or exchanges on custom jewelry.
We are professional goldsmiths who work with heirloom quality stones and metals. We do not fabricate, work on, or repair: silver, base metal, stainless steel, tungsten, titanium, cobalt, brass, wood, or glass.

Supplied gemstones, diamonds, metal:

We will work with stones that you bring us, provided that they are not cracked or chipped and that they are the appropriate hardness for the type of piece you wish to have made. However, we will not use your diamonds or gemstones if they are under 2mm. We use our own highly calibrated, fully faceted stones to ensure uniformity, longevity and to meet our standards of quality.

Your diamonds or gemstones being sent to us for custom work need to be insured, in order to do this you need some documentation regarding their quality and value, an appraisal or an accredited certificate is best. It is your responsibility to know (and prove) what you are sending us.  Once we receive your package we will verify its contents and contact you.  Your items will be insured while they are in our possession.

There is a risk that your gemstone or diamond could crack or break upon removal or setting.  You assume this risk, we recommend having your pieces insured before we work on them.

There is a charge to remove stones from old settings. Often stones crack or break upon removal. You assume this risk.

We use freshly alloyed, ethically sourced, mostly recycled gold and platinum for all of our designs.  We will not re-use your gold.  The process is complicated, the results inferior, and the savings are negligible. We do not pay cash for gold.

After your piece is finished, we recommend you secure insurance. We will provide you with an appraisal if we provided your stones.  If we used your stones, you can choose to purchase an appraisal for your piece.

We look forward to helping you create and maintain your custom jewelry through the years. With proper care and cleaning, your piece will last for generations.
